Ok, this is prolly some kind of weird meme, but it kind of hit me while I was sitting here in my room.
Take a look at the longest shelf in your room, and list 10 things on it. How well do those things reflect your personality?...and do they make you look single minded or obsessed with anything?
Here's the list of 10 objects from the plant shelf over my window:
1. Case with a sculpture of Underdog in it
2. Indian porcelain vase
3. Wooden sculpture of a toucan
4. Brass armillary
5. Miniature Easter Island head figure
6. Posable model (used as ar art reference for figure drawing)
7. Glass and metal filigree vase
8. Pair of matched frosted glass candle holders
9. Architechural finial
10. Metal urn with a lid
I used to keep a dagger up there too...but since I moved, the dagger is too large for that shelf.
Do they reflect my personality? I think they do. They certain reflect lots of interests that I have.
Do show that I'm obsessed with anything or single minded? Only when it comes to dusting them periodically. =D)
What's in your room? Curious minds wanna know.

Longest shelf... I don't have anything in my apartment that would qualify as a distinct "shelf" to display items on, all I have are tops of bookshelves / desks / tables / etc.
But in the room I'm currently in, the longest flat horizontal surface would be my computer desk. Besides the usual computer junk, it has a tv monitor (with beanies on top of it), camcorder, tapes from MFM, a flashlight, exercise clay, my checkbook and associated stuff, a VCR, analog/DV converter, and paperwork to be filed.
The longest "shelf" in my apartment would be the air hockey table, which is currently a catchall for junk! From memory, it has a box with sewing supplies on it, another box with an electronics project in progress in it, some junk mail, another box with electronics stuff in it, clothes unpacked after MFM... *checks table*... gaffer's tape, my camcorder bag, and stuff leftover from an antenna installation a few months ago.
Strangely enough, it kinda represents me in a way. There's a mixture of current attempts at doing things, mixed in with things that have been put on hold for a long period of time. None of the stuff is decorative, it all has a defined purpose. But none of it is essential. It represents things I would like to do, but haven't been able to devote enough time and attention to complete.
Interesting meme...
Thinking about it some more, there is one thing sitting on top of my shelves that I *have* worked on quite recently... editing the video of Pinkuh and Aros' wedding; they were married at MFM. Of course I am going to complete that! (without much delay) Hence the camcorder and tapes next to my computer, and the bag left hastily out on the table. (all that stuff would be put away if I wasn't in the middle of editing) Then again, it's something I'm doing for someone else, so of course I make sure I get it done first. No one will notice if my own stuff is put off... except for me...

But I don't own a shelf. ...or things to put on one if I did! Does that mean I don't own a personality?! I feel so empty now!

Longest shelf in my room is the fireplace mantle.
From left to right . . .
-- Children's book titled "Bear Is Special" (a heart-warming gift from a friend)
-- A framed photo of my German Shepherd, Guardian, and best friend, Tama (who passed away a few years ago).
-- A carved bear totem given to me by Punk Tiger (another very special gift to me)
-- A bear birthday card from my Polar bear brother.
-- A tiny bear statue (a gift)
-- A chubby wind up bear toy (another gift)
-- A hopping bunny wind up toy (yet another gift)
-- A wooden fish
-- A geode piece with a leopard on it (gift)
-- A clock
-- CATALES cat shelter Christmas card
-- Tigger toy
-- Another wooden fish
-- Soapstone bear box (a gift)
-- Shere Khan wind up toy
-- Baloo wind up toy
-- Kenai toy (gift)
-- Framed bear and wolf picture
My GOD this shelf has a lot of stuff on it! *laughs*
What does all this say about me? Well, I think it says that I have kind, thoughtful friends. However, the "Bear is Special" book means I should probably wear a hockey helmet at all times. *grins* So yes, I think it reflects my personality fairly well.

I think it reflects at least my main interests pretty well, and it provides a pretty good reflection of myself. Music has always been my first love, thus the iPod and Hard Rock flag. I can't deny that furry is a big part of my life, thus the various wolf items. My granddad played minor league baseball and I was raised on the game, so I've always been a big fan; I've also always been a sci-fi buff, and I collect figurines and toys of my favorite characters from various books, movies, and TV series, so thus the Star Wars toys. I love to travel, and both of the pewter figurines were bought on trips to visit special friends; the wild dog plushie was also a gift from another special friend, so there are special memories attached to all of those things. And the bison items are because my college mascot was a bison (and I work for the school now), and college represents some of the best years of my life. So... there you have it. ^_^
